Shipley - sunset and moonrise

Another afternoon of late sun enticed me out again - this time to Shipley Country Park.

My intention was to walk up tarmacked road the hill, through the beech wood to the site where the hall once stood, and circle back to the road in time to catch the sunset.

But, the sun had almost set as we left the car park

and while I spent time looking at berries and conkers, and foraging for a handful of rosehips (to make flavoured gin), the sun actually set.

Fortunately it was still light enough to find the way through the wood, though not to avoid the mud.

The ornamental shrubs and trees of the former gardens have nowadays run a little wild, but they still turn the most stunning colours in autumn.

Even the seeds of rosebay willowherb look attractive

Reaching the road again, with an open view now to the west, I realised I hadn't missed the sunset completely

The last stretch of walk back to the car park was lit from both sides - the last glow of the sunset on one, and the full moon rising on the other.
