Making the best of the weather at Swan Lake

We'd been intending spending Saturday at Wildside Festival in Shipley Park, but the dreadful weather this week forced the organisers to cancel it at the last minute. The weather wasn't much better on Saturday (and it wouldn't have been fun getting wet all day) but early evening the clouds started to move away, and we headed out to Swan Lake.

I've taken to doing a head-count of swans each time we visit - and spotted 24 on the main pond. No cygnets yet, but these geese were taking care over their new family.

Keeping an eye on the clouds for possible rain was one of the features of our walk, but we figured it wouldn't be far back to the car if we had to run for cover.

It was a sad visit in many ways as it's the first time we've been back without Dylan the dog, and it had become one of our go-to places in these last few months while he couldn't travel or walk far.

It was good to get out though after a week of feeling cooped up by bad weather
