Easter Sunday at Chatsworth

The sun came out for Easter so we had a trip out ....

....through the snow....

... to Chatsworth 















where the gardens still managed to look stunning under the snow.

There were occasional bright spots of colour from witch-hazel, budding rhododendrons and an almost tame pheasant.

Then back home through the snow-lined roads again..

Funny weather for the time of year....

Winter has returned to The Wood - yet again! Everywhere covered in snow and frogspawn frozen in the pond.



These photos were taken on Friday 22nd March - the next day even MORE snow fell!

Half-term walk round Cromford

 We took advantage of the warmer weather early in the week to have a short walk round Cromford....

.....along the canal 

... to Arkwright's mill at Cromford ..



..and up Scarthin rock from where we could see both of Arkwright's houses -

Snowdrops and sunset at Shipley

Last weekend, when it was warmer and Spring-like, we went in search of snowdrops at Shipley Country Park.


 They weren't flowering as much as I'd have expected so I hope to go back when they're all fully open.

Meanwhile, we caught a beautiful sunset on the walk back to the car.

Looking for Spring...

This past week I've been keeping my eyes open for signs of Spring - pussy willow and hazel catkins on our dog-walks, snowdrops and daffodil buds in the garden, even some bluebell shoots in the wood.

Today, it's snowing!
